GENEVA, Ohio - The final day of competition at the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships saw a pair of outstanding performances from Little East Conference competitors, as UMass Boston’s Aryianna Garceau won the national title in the women’s 100 meter hurdles and Southern Maine’s Ben Drummey Earned All-America in the men’s pole vault.
After placing third in Saturday’s prelims with a time of 13.91 seconds, Garceau turned in a record-setting time of 13.54 seconds Sunday to take the top of the podium. Her time surpassed the previous meet and all-time NCAA Division III record of 13.60 seconds set back in 1998 by Christopher Newport’s Bridget Cochran.
This marks the second national championship win of the calendar year for the Beacons’ junior, who won the 60 meter hurdles at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in March. She is the LEC’s first-ever 100 hurdles national champion.
Garceau is UMass Boston’s first individual outdoor national champion since 2018, when Taylor Driggers (triple jump) and Wadeline Jonathas (200 dash, 400 dash) combined for the three gold medals as they led the Beacons to the team national championship. The last LEC competitor to win an event at outdoor nationals was Southern Maine’s Sophia Slovenski, who won the javelin in 2021.
After passing on the opening height of 4.70 meters, Drummey cleared 4.85 meters on his first attempt to finish tied for 10th overall and earn Second Team All-America honors. He was unable to clear the bar at 4.95 meters, which would have tied him for sixth-place.
Drummey and Garceau were the seventh and eighth LEC athletes to earn All-America honors at this year’s national championships, joining Eastern Connecticut’s Natasha Frisch (pole vault), UMass Dartmouth’s Ancil Alexander (discus), and USM’s Zoe Barnes (discus), Will Carrolton (discus), Riley Reitchel (javelin) and Ethan Shain (100 dash).
