PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its first men’s golf weekly award winners of the 2026 season, with Keene State College’s Taylor Miller earning Player of the Week honors and Western Connecticut State University’s Daniel Zaleta being named Rookie of the Week following strong performances in their season-opening events.

Player of the Week – Taylor Miller, Keene State

Miller opened his sophomore campaign with a strong performance at the New England College Invitational at the Country Club of New Hampshire on Saturday. The Stoddard, N.H. native carded a two-over-par 74 to finish tied for second individually, just two strokes behind the co-medalists.

Miller recorded four birdies during the round, tied for the most by any individual in the field. He shot one-over-par on both the front and back nine, recording birdies on Nos. 5, 8, 12 and 13. His performance helped Keene State post a team score of 315 and finish third overall, six strokes behind runner-up New England College.

Rookie of the Week – Daniel Zaleta, Western Connecticut

Zaleta made an immediate impact in his collegiate debut at the SUNY Delhi Bronco Men’s Golf Invitational on Saturday. The freshman carded a 76 to finish just one stroke behind WestConn’s top finisher, Anthony Nanfito, who shot a 75.

The Danbury, Conn. native’s 76 was tied for the second-lowest round among the Wolves and helped WestConn post a team score of 306 with its top-scoring group. Zaleta was one of six WestConn golfers to shoot below 80 in the season-opening tournament, helping the Wolves turn in a strong opening performance.

Miller and Zaleta will look to build on their opening-week performances as Keene State and Western Connecticut continue their 2026 fall schedules.
