HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The 2026 season came to an end on Wednesday for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's golf team at the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Huskies finished in 36th place with a score of 622 (+50) to miss the 18-team cut.
Sophomore Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) was the top finisher for the Huskies with a two-round score of 150 (+7) to tie for 88th. He shot a 74 (+2) in the second round with three birdies. Sophomore Alex Fournier (Augusta, Maine/Cony) shot a 78 (+6) in round two to finish tied for 180th with a total score of 158 (+15) to tie for 171st.
Sophomore Jaden Poirier (White River Junction, Vt./Hartford) the best first round for the Huskies with a 74 (+3) that included three birdies. He then fired an 83 (+11) in round two with four more birdies, all on the back-nine. Poirier finished tied for 164th overall.
Freshman Keenan Buteau (Scarborough, Maine) tied for 184th after shooting a 79 (+8) in round one and an 81 (+9) in round two. He had a birdie in each round. Sophomore Owen Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) tied for 198th with a two-round score of 162 (+19). Moore shot an 80 (+8) in the second round with three birdies after shooting an 82 (+11) in round one.
The top 18 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams will compete on Thursday and Friday in the final two rounds.
