PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its field hockey weekly award winners for the week ending Sept. 13, recognizing Keene State’s Henley Gilstrap, UMass Dartmouth’s Sophia Bouffard and Western Connecticut’s Brooklyn Testa following standout performances during the week.
Offensive Player & Rookie of the Week – Henley Gilstrap, Keene State
Gilstrap earned both Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors after totaling three goals and one assist for seven points over three games for Keene State. The first-year standout recorded six shots, placing all six on goal, while scoring in each of the Owls’ three contests during the week.
Gilstrap opened the week with a goal and an assist for three points in Keene State’s 5-1 victory over Fitchburg State on Sept. 8, finishing with two shots and two shots on goal. She followed with another goal in the Owls’ 4-3 victory over Westfield State on Sept. 10, again recording two shots and placing both on goal.
Gilstrap closed the week with her third goal in as many games, scoring in Keene State’s 3-2 setback at Colby-Sawyer on Sept. 12. She recorded two shots and two shots on goal in the contest. Gilstrap finished the week with a .500 shooting percentage and a 1.000 shots-on-goal percentage.
Defensive Player of the Week – Sophia Bouffard, UMass Dartmouth
Bouffard earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after making an impact on both ends of the field for UMass Dartmouth, highlighted by a record-setting defensive performance against Smith College.
The senior defender recorded a program-record six defensive saves against Smith on Sept. 12, surpassing the previous UMass Dartmouth single-game record. The performance increased Bouffard’s career total to 46 defensive saves as a field player.
Earlier in the week, Bouffard contributed offensively against Wheaton College, recording one assist, two shots and two shots on goal. She assisted on Sam King’s third-quarter goal, sending a cross into the circle following a UMass Dartmouth penalty corner to set up the score.
Bouffard finished the week with six defensive saves, one assist, two shots and two shots on goal.
Goalkeeper of the Week – Brooklyn Testa, Western Connecticut
Testa earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors after totaling 22 saves over 120 minutes in goal for Western Connecticut during the week. The first-year goalkeeper posted a 1-1 record while allowing four goals across two contests.
Testa opened the week with two saves while allowing just one goal in the Wolves’ 2-1 victory over Maine-Farmington on Sept. 11. She faced three shots on goal and posted a .667 save percentage in the victory.
Testa followed with a career-high 20 saves against Springfield on Sept. 12. She stopped 20 of the 23 shots on goal she faced for an .870 save percentage while playing all 60 minutes in Western Connecticut’s 3-1 setback.
Across the two contests, Testa faced 26 shots on goal, stopping 22 while allowing four goals and recording a .846 save percentage for the week.
