PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its field hockey weekly award winners for the week ending September 20, 2026. Vermont State University Castleton’s Peyton Richardson and the University of Southern Maine’s Jenessa Foster and Haylee Romasco were recognized following standout performances last week.

Offensive Player of the Week – Peyton Richardson, Vermont State Castleton

Richardson helped lead the Spartans to a 6-5 overtime victory over Colby-Sawyer College. The fifth-year midfielder totaled five points in the win, scoring twice and adding an assist while placing all three of her shots on goal. Richardson assisted on the game-tying goal and scored twice as Castleton completed the comeback victory.

Defensive Player of the Week – Jenessa Foster, Southern Maine

Foster anchored the Southern Maine defense during a 2-1 week for the Huskies. The senior helped USM earn a 1-0 shutout victory at Wellesley College before helping hold Husson University to just five shots, four on goal, in a 2-1 double-overtime victory. Foster added a pair of defensive saves in Southern Maine’s 3-2 double-overtime loss to No. 24 University of Lynchburg to close out the week.

Goalkeeper & Rookie of the Week – Haylee Romasco, Southern Maine

Romasco earned both Goalkeeper of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors after posting a 2-1 record during a three-game week for the Huskies. The first-year goalkeeper played all 212:32 in goal, recording 32 saves with a 1.13 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage.

Romasco opened the week by making four saves to earn a shutout in Southern Maine’s 1-0 victory at Wellesley. She followed with three saves in a 2-1 double-overtime win over Husson before turning in a career-best performance against No. 24 Lynchburg. Romasco made a career-high 25 saves as the Huskies pushed the nationally ranked Hornets to double overtime before falling 3-2.
