Player of the Week

Kenzie Bessette (Cranston, R.I.) - Senior - Center Field - Plymouth State
Bessette posted a monster slash line of .609/.625/.826 with eight steals and four RBIs in seven contests at THE Spring Games last week. She finished 14-for-23 with two doubles and a home run and 11 runs scored and went 8-for-9 in stolen base attempts. She went 4-for-4 with a double and homer, three runs scored, two RBIs and a steal in a 6-4 win over Manchester on Monday, and went 2-for-2 with a walk, three runs scored and three steals in Thursday’s 4-1 win over Smith. She finished the week with at least one hit in every game, and scored runs in six of seven.

Pitcher of the Week

Elizabeth Mitchell (Coventry, Conn.) - Sophomore - Eastern Connecticut
In a 6-2 week, Mitchell was 3-1 on the mound with a 2.25 ERA, three complete games, a shutout and 18 strikeouts in 28 innings. In a 3-0 win over Ithaca College, Mitchell pitched a complete-game, five-hit shutout with six strikeouts and no walks. She had five strikeouts in a 5-1 complete-game win over Macalester before she struck out four while going the distance in a 3-2 win over Concordia (Texas).

Rookie of the Week

Emily Wheeler (Old Town, Maine) - Freshman - Third Base - Southern Maine
Wheeler hit .500 over six games as the Huskies' starting third baseman, finishing the week 10-for-20 from the plate with three doubles, and a triple with eight runs scored as USM went 5-1 during the week. Wheeler had three multiple hit games during the week going 3-for-3 with two runs and a triple in a 6-2 win against Framingham State, 3-for-3 with three runs and a double in a 13-2 win versus Keuka, and 2-for-4 with two runs, a double and an RBI in a 6-1 win over Manchester.
