Yankee Ford LEC Baseball Athletes of the Week: March 16, 2026 3/16/2026 1:26:05 PM Player of the Week Evan Baschnagel (Garden City, N.Y.) - Junior - Right Field - Southern Maine Hitting safely in four consecutive games, Baschnagel finished the Huskies' opening week hitting .444 (8-for-18) with 11 runs scored and five RBI from the Huskies' lead off spot. Drawing eight walks, Baschnagel had a .615 on-base percentage. Baschnagel collected three extra-base hits, knocking a double and a pair of home runs as he posted a .833 slugging percentage for the week. Baschnagel was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored against Sage, and was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored in a 16-1 win against Lakeland. In a doubleheader sweep of Oneonta Saturday, Baschnagel combined to go 3-for-5 with four walks, six runs scored and two RBI. In the 5-1 win in game-two, he was 2-for-2 with three runs, and knocked his second home of the season with a two-run shot in the second to put USM ahead 4-0. He was 1-for-3 with a double, two walks and three runs scored in the 13-2 game-two triumph over the Red Dragons. Pitcher of the Week Jordan Paradis (North Attleboro, Mass.) - Junior - Starting Pitcher - UMass Dartmouth Paradis helped the Corsairs to a 7-6 victory over Coe College on Saturday, allowing two unearned runs on four hits over five innings pitched. He struck out 15 batters and surrendered just three walks against 24 batters faced. His 15 strikeouts against the Koehawks currently ranks in a tie for sixth amongst Division III pitchers and is the most batters struck out in a single game by any Little East pitcher this season. Rookie of the Week Ben Sherry (Fall River, Mass.) - Freshman - Outfield - UMass Boston Sherry batted .556 (10-for-18) with five RBI and five runs scored in a 3-2 week for the Beacons. He was 4-for-5 with a double, four RBI and two runs scored in a wild 22-16 win over MIT to start the week, which he capped off by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI in a 13-11 victory over Ohio Northern. His third multi-hit game of the week saw him go 2-for-3 against Western New England. Sherry was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in a 21-5 rout of Stockton.
