PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Vermont State University Castleton baseball team had two players named Little East Conference athletes of the week. Justin Strozyk was named Player of the Week, and Alex McClelland was named Rookie of the Week following the opening weekend performance by the Spartans.
Strozyk notched his second career home run and first career grand slam during opening day in the loss to Brandeis. He followed it up with his second home run in as many days in the 15-12 win over The City College of New York. The sophomore combined for three hits, five RBIs, and two home runs on the week.
McClelland combined for two hits and one RBI, notching his first career hit against Brandeis on opening day. The rookie's single in Saturday's win over CCNY gave the Spartans a one-run lead in the 10th inning before they would go on to win 15-12.
