WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Eastern Connecticut State University men’s swimming & diving team leads the way following the first full day of competition at the 2025 Little East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted at the Boston Sports Institute. The Warriors had a pair of individual champions in Nico Iannucci and Ryan Jezek, and swept the night’s relay titles.
Iannucci won the 50 breaststroke in a LEC-Championship record time of 26.66 seconds, surpassing his previous conference record by 0.02 seconds, to lead a one-two finish in the event as Sam Hurlburt took second in 27.20 seconds. Jezek clocked in with a LEC-record time of 21.44 seconds to win the 50 freestyle, and was joined on the podium by Ben D’Addario who placed third in 21.92 seconds.
Jezek and D’Addario were joined by Sam Ainscough and Eric Quiterio on the gold medal winning 200 freestyle relay to start the nights competition. D’Addario later anchored the winning 400 medley relay that included Joe Sylvester, Iannucci and Connor Rego that clocked in a 3:32.75 to close out the night’s events.
Maine Maritime sits in second place in the team standings and crowned its second LEC champion in as many days as Carson Trout took home the gold in the 100 butterfly (50.35). Aidan Burke took home a bronze medal in the 50 backstroke (27.60), while Nathaniel Gibbons earned bronze in the 500 freestyle (5:01.00). While he did not score points for Mariners Friday, Oliver Cox did set a new LEC-Championship record during the 1-meter diving prelims by posting a score of 408.85 points.
Defending champion Bridgewater State sits in third place in the teams standings, and had a pair of individual champions in Matthew Jo and Desmond Ng. Ng won the 200 backstroke in a LEC-record time of 1:58.01, while Jo was victorious in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:49.12.
Keene State’s Aaron Turgeon was victorious in the 200 individual medley with a LEC-record time of 1:55.91, surpassing his previous championship-best time of 1:59.11 that was set just last year.
The second day of competition will begin with Saturday’s prelims at 10 a.m., which will also feature the 1-meter diving finals and 1,000 freestyle times finals. The night’s finals session will begin at 6:30 p.m.
