BRUNSWICK, Maine - The University of Massachusetts Boston men’s soccer team fell to 10th-ranked Bowdoin College in the Second Round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament Sunday by a final count of 3-2. The Beacons’ season ends with an overall record of 13-4-4.
Following an own goal that put UMass Boston in front 1-0 in the 17th-minute, Tyler Huck pulled the hosts even on the scoreboard by converting a penalty in the 18th. Liam Myers scored the go-ahead goal for Bowdoin five minutes later, and Tuck scored what proved to be the game-winner 9:40 into the second half.
Ryan Lima’s unassisted tally with 4:50 to go in the match pulled UMass Boston back within one at 3-2, but was not able to even the score in the closing minutes.
Eduardo Chirico had an opportunity blocked by the Polar Bear defense just under two minutes following Lima’s goal. Earlier in the match, a quality bid from Felipe De Andrade rang off the crossbar in the 68th-minute.
Alex Ainsworth earned the decision in goal for Bowdoin after making a pair of saves. Mario Hajhdi had three saves in goal for the Beacons.
The Polar Bears outshot UMass Boston 18-7 in the match, with a narrower 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Corner kicks also favored Bowdoin, 4-2.
