PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Eastern Connecticut State University will host the 2022 Little East Conference (LEC) Men’s Golf Championship. The two-day event will take place October 6-7 at the par-72, 6,936-yard Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Connecticut.

The Warriors won the inaugural LEC championship last season with a team total of 615 at Rutland Country Club, led by a one-two finish from juniors Ashton Lewis and Jonah Dupuis and a fourth-place showing from sophomore Chris Davidson. Lewis has won each of the four events Eastern has entered this season.

Each of the LEC’s all-conference performers (top-five finish) from a year will once again play for the LEC title. In addition to the above mentioned Warriors, those individuals are Castleton senior Nick Ojala, Rhode Island College senior Nate Chhim (t-fifth, 162) and Southern Maine junior Zach Ellsworth (t-fifth, 162).

The Spartans (647) were the runner-up in the team standings a year ago on their home course, followed by Southern Maine (657), RIC (697) and Western Connecticut (796). The Huskies edged out Castleton and RIC at their home invitational this past weekend.

Keene State is in its inaugural season in 2022-23. The Owls finished a program-best fourth of seven teams at Norwich’s Tony Mariano Invitational back on September 16, with Caden Capaldo earning medalist honors with a three-over par round of 73.

The winner will receive the LEC’s automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championship, which will take place May 16-19, 2023 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky.
