DARTMOUTH, Mass. – For the 12th year in a row, Keene State College has captured the Little East Conference (LEC) women's swimming & diving title. The Owls totaled 534.50 points at the 2018 LEC Championships, and took home 12 individual and relay titles out of the 16 total events as they won their 15th LEC title. 

FREESTYLE: Senior Hope Walsh (Hampden, Mass.) won each of her three individual events, starting with the 1,650 in which she turned in a championship and facility record time of 17:28.87, besting the previous mark of 17:39.23 from 2016. She was back in the pool just a few minutes later to win the 200 in 1:59.53, and later finished first in the 500 with her time of 5:20.50. Fellow Keene State senior Margaret Dean (Amherst, N.H.) won the sprints, taking the 50 in 25.26 seconds and the 100 in 55.74 seconds.

BACKSTROKE: Eastern Connecticut junior Mollee Lasto (Orange, Conn.) won the 100 in 1:01.88, out-touching Keene State freshman Hannah Wood (Orrington, Maine) by 0.12 seconds. Later in the day, Keene State senior Alex McCafferty (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Wood shared the championship honors in the 200 after turning in identical times of 2:12.17.

BREASTSTROKE: Keene State sophomore Madison Pechulis (Bristol, Conn.) swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 1:08.7 before taking the 200 title with her time of 2:30.91.

BUTTERFLY: Keene State sophomore Sophie Hayes (Ridgefield, Conn.) swept the butterfly events, winning the 100 in 59.18 seconds and the 200 in 2:11.34.

INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY: Freshmen twin sisters Megan Lasto (Orange, Conn.) and Maggie Lasto recorded a one-two finish for Eastern Connecticut. Megan Lasto won in 2:14.41, while Maggie Lasto was second in 2:15.78.

DIVING: Westfield State junior Monique Groux (Agawam, Mass.) took home the title in on the 1-meter board after scoring 217.40 points. Plymouth State sophomore Casey Allaire (Mattapoisett, Mass.) later won on the 3-meter board with her score of 219.60 points, edging out Groux by 0.90 points in that event.

RELAYS: Keene State's 200 medley relay team of Wood, senior Emily McMahon (Sandwich, Mass.), Hayes and Dean turned in a winning time of 1:53.64 to open the 2018 LEC Championships. The Owls' 400 freestyle relay of Wood, sophomore Molly O'Connor (Glastonbury, Conn.), freshman Kristyn Simoneau (Rindge, N.H.) and Walsh turned in a first-place time of 3:50.17.
