PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its women’s cross country weekly award winners for the week ending September 27, 2026. Vermont State University Castleton’s Lanza Bellomo was named Runner of the Week, while teammate Jill Robb earned Rookie of the Week honors following their performances at the Fairgrounds Showdown.
Runner of the Week – Lanza Bellomo, Vermont State Castleton
Bellomo led Vermont State Castleton at the Fairgrounds Showdown, completing the 6K course in 24:00.9 to finish 86th in a field of 168 runners. The sophomore from Rutland, Vt., was the Spartans’ top finisher in their first race of the season at the 6K distance. Castleton placed 14th among 16 teams in a competitive field that featured two nationally ranked women’s programs and seven teams ranked among the top 10 in their respective regions.
Rookie of the Week – Jill Robb, Vermont State Castleton
Robb completed her first collegiate 6K race at the Fairgrounds Showdown, finishing 113th overall among 168 competitors with a time of 24:50.9. The first-year runner from Putney, Vt., helped the Spartans finish 14th in the 16-team field while competing against a field that included two nationally ranked teams and seven programs ranked in the top 10 regionally.
