PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its women’s soccer weekly award winners for the week ending Sept. 13, recognizing Rhode Island College’s Caitlyn Terceiro, Yassin Joof and Nicole Nunes, along with Keene State’s Hailey Goldman, following standout performances during the week.
Offensive Player of the Week – Caitlyn Terceiro, Rhode Island College
Terceiro earned Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring both of Rhode Island College’s goals during a 2-0 week, helping the Anchorwomen remain unbeaten and improve to 4-0 overall.
The junior forward opened the week by scoring the lone goal in RIC’s 1-0 victory over previously unbeaten Curry on Sept. 9. Terceiro found the back of the net in the first half for her fourth goal of the season, with the tally standing as the game-winner.
Terceiro delivered again in Rhode Island College’s Little East opener against Plymouth State on Sept. 12, scoring the only goal in another 1-0 victory. She finished the week with two goals, four points and two game-winning goals, accounting for all of RIC’s scoring as the Anchorwomen went 2-0.
Defensive Player of the Week – Yassin Joof, Rhode Island College
Joof earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping anchor a Rhode Island College defense that posted consecutive shutouts during a 2-0 week.
The senior defender helped the Anchorwomen hold Curry scoreless in a 1-0 victory before contributing to another clean sheet in RIC’s 1-0 conference-opening win over Plymouth State. The Anchorwomen allowed just 22 total shots and 12 shots on goal across the two contests, with Joof and the RIC back line keeping both opponents off the scoreboard.
Goalkeeper of the Week – Nicole Nunes, Rhode Island College
Nunes earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors after posting back-to-back shutouts and a perfect 1.000 save percentage during Rhode Island College’s undefeated week.
Nunes made four saves while playing all 90 minutes in RIC’s 1-0 victory over Curry on Sept. 9. She followed with five saves over 90 minutes in the Anchorwomen’s 1-0 victory against Plymouth State on Sept. 12.
The junior goalkeeper finished the week with a 2-0 record, nine saves, zero goals allowed and two shutouts over 180 minutes, stopping every shot on goal she faced.
Rookie of the Week – Hailey Goldman, Keene State
Goldman earned Rookie of the Week honors after scoring the first two goals of her collegiate career to lead Keene State to a 2-0 victory at Westfield State on Sept. 9.
The first-year forward broke a scoreless tie in the 41st minute before striking again less than four minutes later to give the Owls a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime. Goldman scored twice on three shots, placing all three of her attempts on goal. Her two-goal performance accounted for all of Keene State’s scoring and helped the Owls secure their first victory of the season.
