Williams scored UMass Dartmouth’s goal in Monday’s 1-1 draw at Western Connecticut, helping the Corsairs earn their first result without a loss in Danbury since 2012. She followed with two goals and an assist in Friday’s 3-0 victory over Vermont State Castleton. Williams assisted Kate O’Nuallain on the opening goal before scoring the eventual game-winner approximately three minutes later. She added a penalty-kick goal to complete the scoring.
Defensive Player of the Week: Jordan Fabry, Eastern Connecticut
Fabry, a junior defender from Lisbon, Conn., helped the Warriors record their fourth shutout of the season in a 4-0 conference victory at Plymouth State on Friday, Eastern Connecticut’s only match of the week.
She played all 90 minutes and anchored a defense that limited the Panthers to eight shots, including three on goal. Fabry also scored the game-winning goal in the third minute, finishing with two shots and one on target.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Janiya Morales Matier, UMass Boston
Morales Matier, a sophomore from North Easton, Mass., stopped all eight shots on goal in Saturday’s 1-0 conference victory over Western Connecticut, the Beacons’ only match of the week.
She played all 90 minutes, finishing with a 1.000 save percentage and a 0.00 goals-against average. The shutout was her fourth of the season and helped UMass Boston remain unbeaten in conference play.
Rookie of the Week: Kate Hester, Southern Maine
Hester, a freshman midfielder from Austin, Texas, scored the game-winning goal against regionally ranked Rivier as the Huskies went 2-0 during the week.
In Thursday’s 1-0 victory over Rivier, Hester played 37 minutes off the bench and scored on her only shot. After combining with sophomore Lexi Morin, she received the ball near the top of the penalty area and fired a shot into the upper far corner. The goal was the second of her career, with both serving as game-winners.
Hester also contributed 61 minutes off the bench in Saturday’s 3-1 conference victory over Keene State, totaling 98 minutes across the two wins.
