LEC Announces 2026 Women's indoor Track & Field Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its annual women's indoor track & field major award winners Thursday, following vote of the conference's nine head coaches. 

Track Athlete of the Year: Aryianna Garceau, UMass Boston
  • Broke her own LEC Championship record as she won the 60 hurdles in 8.45 seconds. 
  • Season-best time of 8.37 seconds from Harvard's Crimson Open in No. 1 in NCAA Division III this season.
  • Won the LEC title in the 60 dash (7.71) and 200 dash (25.11), and was third in the long jump (5.44m).
  • converted 200 time of 24.73 seconds from LECs ranks 14th in the country, while her 60 dash time from LECs ranks 34th in DIII.
Field Athlete of the Year: Zoe Barnes, Southern Maine
  • 2026 LEC Champion in the shot put (14.32m - LEC record) and weight throw (15.81m).
  • Her mark in the shot put from LECs ranks fourth in NCAA Division III and No. 1 in DIII New England this season.
  • Season-best mark of 16.98 meters int he weight throw at the Maine State Meet ranks 19th in DIII and No. 1 in New England.
Rookie Track Athlete of the Year: Clare Tuohy, Plymouth State
  • Won the LEC title in the 400 dash (58.62) and was the LEC runner-up int he 200 dash (25.95).
  • converted 400 time of 57.86 seconds in the 400 from LECs ranks 17th in New England
  • Anchored the Panthers' fourth-place 4x400 relay (4:08.81).
Rookie Field Athlete of the Year: Ballay Conteh, Keene State
  • Finished seventh in the long jump (5.23m) at the LEC Championships.
  • Season-best mark of 5.66 meters from USM Husky Invitational ranks 17th in NCAA Division III and fifth in New England.
  • Season-best mark of 10.91 meters in the triple jump at the USM Husky Invitational ranks 19th in New England. 
  • Also a member of the third-place 4x400 relay.
Coaching Staff of the Year: University of Southern Maine
  • Head coach Rob Whitten and assistant coaches Ryan Dyer, Jim Karcanes, Jim Giroux, Mike Drummey and Jeff Amos.
  • Guided the Huskies to their sixth consecutive and LEC-record 25th women's indoor team championship.
