WELLESLEY, Mass. - A pair of LEC records fell on the opening night of competition at the 2026 Little East Conference (LEC) Women’ Swimming & Diving Championship at the Boston Sports Institute Friday night.
Eastern Connecticut swept the relay events, winning the 200 freestyle relay in a LEC record time of 1:40.17 and the 200 medley relay in 4:08.06. Husson was the runner-up in the 200 freestyle (1:43.53), while Western New England placed second in the 400 medley (4:09.16). Warrior senior Tasha Frisch won the 20 breaststroke in 30.65 - which was just off the LEC record time of 30.41.
Western New England’s Ella Smith took home the gold medal in the 200 IM with her LEC record time of 2:07.23, which was nearly three seconds faster than the previous mark of 2:10.10.,. Fellow Golden Bear Caitlin Guntley was victorious in the 100 butterfly with her time of 1:00.86
Husson’s Emily Kennard claimed the 200 backstroke title with her time of 2:12.22, while Keene State’s Rory Lee won the 500 freestyle in 5:22.11. Westfield State’s Isabella Zeppa was first to finish in the 50 freestyle, clocking in at 24.93.
Competition resumes at the LEC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship Saturday morning at 10 a.m., which will include the 1-meter diving and 1,000 meter freestyle finals. Saturday night’s events will get underway at 6:30 p.m.
