Player of the Week

Thomas Whelan (Bronx, N.Y.) - Senior - Guard - Southern Maine
Whelan averaged 28.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 44.4 percent (12-of-27) and going a perfect 27-for-27 from the free throw line in a pair of Little East Conference wins for the Huskies last week. He had 30 points, three rebounds and three assists in a 101-86 win over Rhode Island College to start his week Tuesday. On Saturday at VTSU Castleton, Whelan had 27 points with six boards, four assists, two steals and a blocked shot in USM’s 78-74 triumph.

Rookie of the Week

Carter Galley (Owls Head, Maine) - Freshman - Guard - Southern Maine
Galley averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds and three assists per game in 23 minutes per contest off of the bench, while shooting 66.7 percent from the field (10-for-15) in two LEC wins. He had 12 points on a near-perfect 6-of-7 shooting performance from the floor with five rebounds and two assists in the Huskies home victory over RIC, and had 10 points, six rebounds, four assists in USM’s road win over the Spartans.
