PROVIDENCE, R.I. - D3hoops.com and the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) recently announced their All-Region award recipients for the 2024-25 season. Rhode Island College’s Madison Medbury was named the 2025-25 Region 2 Player of the Year by D3hoops.com, while Southern Maine’s Lucy Wiles was named the 2024-25 Rookie of the Year by both organizations.
Medbury was named this season’s Little East Conference (LEC) Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year after leading the Anchorwomen to an overall record of 19-7 and a tie for the LEC regular season title. She led RIC in points scored (448), scoring average (17.1 ppg), assists (133) and steals (64), while her 7.1 rebounds per game were second on the team. She led the LEC in assists, while ranking 13 in NCAA Division III in assists per game (5.1) and 15th in total assists. Medbury additionally ranked second in the conference in steals, third in scoring and eight in rebounding.
Wiles started in all but one of her 28 games played during her first collegiate season, leading the Huskies in scoring with 13 points per contest and putting up team-best totals of 84 assists and 43 steals. She ranked second in the LEC in assists, was ninth in the league in steals and finished 11th in the conference in scoring average. Wiles helped lead Southern Maine to an overall record of 18-10 and the program’s first LEC tournament final appearance since 2014.
