Player of the Week
Carly Whiteside (Barnstable, Mass.) - Graduate Student - Forward - UMass Dartmouth
Whiteside was named the LEC Player of the Week after she averaged 18.5 points and 11 boards per game while playing just 25 minutes per contest in a 2-0 week for the nationally-ranked and league-leading Corsairs. She shot 58 percent (14-for-24) from the field and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe over UMass Dartmouth’s two conference triumphs.
Whiteside opened the week by dropping 24 points in 28 minutes of a 75-54 victory at Eastern Connecticut, making a season-high 10 buckets (10-17) while grabbing 11 boards. She capped the week scoring 13 points and hauling in 11 rebounds in an 83-52 home victory over Plymouth State, marking the Corsairs tenth consecutive league win and 11th straight win overall.
Rookie of the Week
Nia Rencher (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) - Freshman - Center - Western Connecticut
Rencher was named the LEC Rookie of the Week after averaging 17.5 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots per game in a pair of league contests for the Wolves last week. She had 13 points, nine rebounds and a blocked shot in a 60-44 loss at UMass Boston before netting 22 points with seven boards and three blocks in an 85-78 setback at Vermont State Castleton.
