Swimmer of the Week

Ella Smith (Chicopee, Mass.) - Senior - Western New England
Smith won each of her three individual events as the Golden Bears competed in a quad-meet with Clark, Husson and Rhode Island College over the weekend. She was first to finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.13), 200 butterfly (2:15.72, program record) and 200 IM (2:14.94). Her times in the 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly are now the fastest in the LEC this season, she already owned the fastest time in the 200 IM (2:13.68).

Smith also swam the breaststroke leg for the 200 medley relay in 30.50 seconds. WNE placed second to Clark with a season-best total time of 1:58.56.

Diver of the Week

Riley Mahoney (Oakham, Mass.) - Senior - Husson
Mahoney swept the diving events in a quad-meet against Clark, Rhode Island College and Western New England, breaking the program record in both events. She won the one-meter board with 231.75 points and took home the three-meter win with 186.10 points.

Rookie Swimmer of the Week

Julia Ames (Pawtucket, R.I.) - Freshman - Eastern Connecticut
At the Wheaton College’s Chris Fisher Invitational, Ames recorded 29 points in her two individual events and swam a leg of three relays that added 68 more points to the Warriors’ fourth-place total. Ames was fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:02.98) and fifth in the 200 backstroke (2:16.20) - both are the top time in the LEC this season. She swam a leg of the seventh-place 400 freestyle relay (3:58.33), eighth-place 400 medley relay (4:26.42) and eighth-place 200 medley relay (1:56.99).
