Husson Leads Following Opening Round of Inaugural LEC Women’s Golf Championship

WARWICK, R.I. - Husson University leads Keene State College by six stroke following the first day of competition at the first-ever Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Golf Championship, which is hosted by Rhode Island College at the par-72 Valley Country Club.
 
The Eagles posted a team total of 364 on the day, with Caitlyn Chabot leading the field with her round of 83. Allie Weinert sits in fourth after carding an 89, while Caroline Chausse is tied for sixth at 93.
 
The Owls also have three players among the top-six. Madi Mousley’s first round score of 89 is good for third overall, while Sadie Murray (91) and Abby Weiterman (93) are separated by two strokes in fifth and sixth place.
 
University of Southern Maine rounds out the top-three in the team standings with a team total of 380. Remy Levin’s round of 85 places her second overall, two strokes back of Chabot. MacKenzie Kingsbury (95) and Anabelle Steeves (98) sit in ninth and 10th on the individual leaderboard.
 
Friday’s second and final round is schedule to begin at 9 a.m. at Valley Country Club.
