2024 LEC Swimming & Diving Championship Preview

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The 2024 Little East Conference (LEC) Swimming & Diving Championships will take place this week, starting with the 3-meter diving event at Babson College Thursday before shift to the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Massachusetts Friday through Sunday 
 
Keene State College is looking to extend its current streak of 16 consecutive women’s team titles, and what would be its conference-record 20th overall women’s championship win. On the men’s side, Bridgewater State University looks to remain the only team champion in conference history, having won each of the first two team titles in 2022 and 2023.
 
Bridgewater State has a pair of returning multi-event champions on the men’s side. junior Cooper Castellone is back after sweeping the three breaststroke events last season, while classmate Joseph Pervier looks to reclaim the 50 and 100 freestyle events.
 
Keene State’s Aaron Turgeon is the returning conference champion in the 200 freestyle and 100 IM, which teammate Braeden Ledder took home gold in the 200 backstroke a year ago. Eastern Connecticut’s Connor Rego is the reigning LEC champion in the 100 and butterfly
 
On the women’s side, Bridgewater State sophomore Cailey Simard will look to defend her LEC titles on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards after establishing new LEC records in both disciples in her rookie campaign, helping her secure the 2023 LEC Diver of the Year and Rookie Diver of the Year awards. She is once again the No. 1 seed in both events this season.
 
Keene State’s senior Kiley Young is the reigning LEC Swimmer of the Year, earning that honor for the first time in 2023 after taking home the gold medal in the 100 and 200 backstroke and 400 IM titles, and contributing on three winning relays for the Owls. She enters this year’s Championship as the No. 1 seed in the 50 freestyle, 100 and 200 backstroke, and 100 and 400 IM events.
 
Eastern Connecticut junior Maya Brody return to defend her titles in the 50 butterfly, and 50 and 100 freestyle events. Fellow Warrior Allison Ronan is the defending LEC champion in the 50 backstroke. University of New England junior Annika Doeppers is the defending LEC champ in the 500 freestyle, while Westfield State junior Alexa Richter will defend her title in the 1,000.
