MANSFIELD, Conn. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's outdoor track & field team repeated at the Little East Conference (LEC) champion Saturday Eastern Connecticut State University's Mansfield Outdoor Athletic Complex. The Corsairs topped the host Warriors by 16.5 points. More to come.
Ancil Alexander won a pair of gold medals as he topped the field in the discus (51.26m) and shot put (16.73m). Jaysen Francois won the long jump with a top mark of 6.67 meters and Sean Patrone took home the high jump title after clearing 1.92 meters. Cameron Thompson won the 1,500 (3:58.87) for the Corsairs, and was immediately followed by Zane Gordon winning the 400 dash (50.04). the Corsairs' 4x800 was first to finish with their time of 7:58.30.
Keene State's Kyle Thomas won the 100 dash (10.63) and 200 dash (21.78), while Griffin Urnezis topped the podium in the steeplechase (9:41.81) and 5K (15:21.62) . The Owls' 4x100 won gold with its time of 41.73 seconds. Troy Tenney topped the podium in the javelin (53.94m) for KSC.
RIC's Andrew Frezza won the 10,000 to open competition on the track with his time of 32:04.17, while Jack McEntee won the 400 hurdles (53.74) and Owen Schenck won the 800 (1:54.80). Brandon Mota led a one-two finish for the Anchormen in the hammer with his toss of 52.77 meters to edge out Enrique Edjang's top mark of 52.67 meters.
Eastern Connecticut's Hagen Drake won the 110 hurdles in 15.04 seconds after going 15.28 in the prelims, while the Warriors' 4x400 was first to finish in 3:22.84, just edging out the team from Plymouth State (3:22.82). Southern Maine's Treshaun Brown earned a gold medal in the triple jump with his leap of 13.41 meters.
