PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Keene State College and the University of Southern Maine are tied for first place in the 2025-26 Little East Conference (LEC) Commissioner’s Cup Standings through the conclusion of the winter sports seasons, it was announced by the conference office Wednesday. Both institutions had a scoring average of 7.03 points.

For sports in which the LEC conducts in-season play (baseball, basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball), points are determined by the ranked order of finish in the final regular season standings. For sports that do not conduct in-season play (cross country, golf, swimming & diving, track & field), points are awarded based on the order of finish at the LEC championship meet.

Southern Maine was the top-performing program in the LEC during the winter sports season, with each of its six programs earning at least third-place points. The Huskies won the LEC women’s basketball and women’s indoor track & field titles, were second among LEC teams in men’s and women’s ice hockey, and claimed third-place points in men’s basketball and men’s indoor track & field.

Keene State, one of two institutions to sponsor all eight LEC winter sport offerings, won the men’s indoor track & field championship and claimed second-place points in women’s indoor track & field and men’s and women’s swimming & diving. The Owls also finished third in both men’s and women’s basketball during the regular season.

Eastern Connecticut State University currently sits third after being tied for first with KSC in the fall. The Warriors won the women’s swimming & diving championship and were first among LEC programs in the final men’s swimming & diving standings. They finished third in women’s indoor track & field and fourth in men’s indoor track & field.

Eastern Connecticut and Keene State are the only two institutions to win the LEC Commissioner’s Cup. The Owls own a conference-record 18 LEC Commissioner’s Cup wins and have won the award each of the past two academic years. The Warriors won the LEC Commissioner’s Cup championship for six consecutive years from 2016-17 through 2022-23.
