PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference (LEC) has announced its women’s volleyball weekly awards for the week ending Oct. 4, 2026. Plymouth State’s Sya McKay earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, UMass Boston’s Addie Blomgren was named Defensive Player of the Week, UMass Dartmouth’s Skye Peters received Setter of the Week recognition and UMass Boston’s Kaitlyn Leberstien was selected Rookie of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week: Sya McKay, Plymouth State
McKay, a sophomore middle hitter from Somersworth, N.H., totaled 29 kills with a .446 hitting percentage as the Panthers went 2-0. She averaged 3.63 kills per set across eight sets while adding seven digs, five blocks, one assist and one service ace.
In Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over Rivier, McKay recorded a career-high 20 kills without an attack error, hitting .571 while contributing six digs and three blocks. She followed with nine kills, two blocks, one dig, one assist and one ace in Saturday’s 3-0 conference victory over Western Connecticut.
Defensive Player of the Week: Addie Blomgren, UMass Boston
Blomgren, a junior middle blocker from Riverside, Ill., totaled 14 blocks for an average of 1.40 per set as the Beacons earned two five-set victories. She finished the week with three solo blocks and 11 block assists, adding 18 kills, a .366 hitting percentage, nine digs and one service ace across 10 sets.
Blomgren recorded seven blocks, including one solo stop and six block assists, in Wednesday’s 3-2 win at Western New England. She also contributed 14 kills on .500 hitting and three digs. In Saturday’s 3-2 conference victory over Rhode Island College, she posted two solo blocks and five block assists while adding four kills, six digs and one ace.
Setter of the Week: Skye Peters, UMass Dartmouth
Peters, a senior setter from Albuquerque, N.M., recorded 40 assists and 10 digs in the Corsairs’ 3-2 victory over Keene State on Friday, their only match of the week and conference opener.
She averaged 8.00 assists and 2.00 digs per set while contributing a match-high four service aces, five kills and one block assist. Peters finished with a .176 hitting percentage and averaged 0.80 aces per set.
Rookie of the Week: Kaitlyn Leberstien, UMass Boston
Leberstien, a freshman setter from Wilmington, Del., totaled 21 kills, 29 assists and 19 digs as the Beacons went 2-0 with five-set victories over Western New England and Rhode Island College. She hit .320 and added three service aces and five block assists across 10 sets, averaging 2.10 kills, 2.90 assists and 1.90 digs per set.
In Wednesday’s victory at Western New England, Leberstien finished one dig shy of a triple-double with 10 kills, 12 assists and nine digs. She hit .348 and added one ace and two block assists.
Leberstien completed the triple-double in Saturday’s conference opener against Rhode Island College, recording 11 kills, 17 assists and 10 digs. She hit .296 while contributing two aces and three block assists.
