GORHAM, Maine – Liam Conneely and Alex Graver scored second-half goals, and goalkeeper Gabe Wagner stopped a late penalty kick as the University of Southern Maine rallied for a 2-1 victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday at Hannaford Field.

The Huskies improved to 7-5-7 overall, while the Corsairs fell to 7-8-3.

UMass Dartmouth took the lead in the 18th minute when Joey Renquinha scored off an assist from Jack Martin following a corner kick at 17:47. The Corsairs carried that advantage into halftime despite Southern Maine holding a 5-4 edge in shots.

Conneely brought the Huskies level at 54:39, scoring his first goal of the season off a feed from Cole Johnson. Less than eight minutes later, Graver put Southern Maine ahead, finishing off an assist from Martin Kelly at 62:25 for his 11th goal of the season.

Wagner helped protect the lead with a save on Claudio Ramos shortly after Graver’s goal and another on Mario Rodriguez in the 81st minute. His biggest stop came with just 3:03 remaining, denying Rodriguez’s penalty kick to preserve the one-goal advantage.

Wagner finished with six saves, including three in each half. UMass Dartmouth goalkeeper Edward Corliss also recorded six saves while playing all 90 minutes.

Southern Maine finished with a 12-9 advantage in shots, an 8-7 edge in shots on goal and a 4-3 margin in corner kicks. Conneely, Graver, Johnson, Ordi Bimvy and Jack Brady each registered two shots for the Huskies, while Rodriguez, Nick Scanlon and Leonardo Alfama led the Corsairs with two apiece.
