KEENE, N.H. - Three of the four planned games for the second day of competition at the 2025 Little East Conference (LEC) Baseball Championship Tournament were played to completion, while the day’s fourth game between No. 1 Keene State and No. 5 Rhode Island College was halted in the bottom of the eighth due to heavy rain with the Owls leading 7-3. That game is currently scheduled to resume Friday at 9:30 a.m.
No. 2 UMass Boston 12, No. 6 UMass Dartmouth 5 - Box Score
The Beacons trailed 4-3 late in the game before going ahead for good in the top of the eight on Mike Meagher’s single up the middle that drove in Bostyn Burris and Mariano Jimenez. UMass Boston then put the game out of reach with a seven-run ninth that featured back-to-back two-RBI doubles off the bats of Elliott Miles and Breon Parker.
Thomas Kierce got the win in relief for the Beacons after allowing one run on two hits with two Ks in his 1.2 innings of work. Tristan Ciampa did not factor in the decision after allowing four runs on eight hits with six Ks in his 6.1 innings.
Geordan Jackson Murphy took the loss for the Corsairs after getting touched up for five runs on two hits and four walks while recording just one out in the ninth. AJ Rourke took allowed just one run on five hits with three Ks over the first 4.2 innings of the contest.
No. 1 Keene State 4, No. 4 Southern Maine 0 - Box Score
Camden Thomas and Troy Brennan combined to allow just two hits in shutting out the Huskies, who were eliminated from the LEC tournament with the loss. Thomas allowed two hits and three walks while fanning eight batters over his eight innings to improve to 5-2 on the hill for the Owls. Brennan sat down each of the three batters he faced in the ninth to close out the KSC win.
Shea Zina drove in Jonathan Chatfield with a single to right for the only run the Owls would need in the top of the second. Luke Anderson scored on a ground out by Evan McCue in the fifth before Otis Follet plated Ethan Rainha and Chatfield with his double to left in the eighth.
Carson Black fell to 5-5 on the mound for the Huskies after allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits over 7.1 innings. Kyle Douin and Jack LeBlond accounted for USM’s two hits - both singles - in the game.
No. 5 Rhode Island College 12, No. 2 Eastern Connecticut 2 (7 innings) - Box Score
The Anchormen scored early and often in the third game of the day, plating four runs in the first, five runs in the second and three runs in the third. That proved to be plenty of offense for Jason Potvin, who allowed two runs on three hits with five Ks to improve to 2-1.
Izaiah Rivera delivered the first big hit of the game with a two-RBI, bases-loaded double in the bottom of the first to open the scoring in the game, and later scored on a Daniel Cascio ground out to make it 4-0. Cal Parrillo drove in a pair of runs with his triple to the gap in right in the second that made it 8-2, and Lucas Pierce capped the scoring with his three-run blast in the third that accounted for the 12-2 final.
Both Eastern Connecticut runs came on the top of the second on J.T. Clark’s double left that sent Ian Mosher and Emmanuel Zaiter home. Francis Ferguson took the loss after allowing nine runs (four earned) on eight hits in just 1.2 innings, dropping his record to 4-3.
