GORHAM, Maine  –  Continuing to add to an ever-growing list of academic and athletic honors, junior Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies baseball team has been named to the 2025 Division III Academic All-America ® Baseball Third Team as selected by members of the College Sports Communicators (CSC).  A Mechanical Engineering major, Douin's selection as a 2025 Academic All-American marks his second consecutive earning the prestigious academic honor.

Douin's 2025 selection to the Academic All-America team is the 19th citation in University of Southern Maine history.  Becoming the third member of the Huskies' baseball program to earn the title of Academic All-American (Chris Bernard '14 (Second Team 2014), Cam Seymour '24 (Second Team, 2021), Douin is the first to earn the award twice (2024, 2025) and the first USM baseball player to earn the award more than once in his career.  Additionally, Douin joins an elite roster of just five University of Southern Maine student-athlete to earn the award more than once in their career: Ben Drummey '25, Men's Track & Field (Second Team, 2024; Second Team 2023); Sophia Slovenski '23, Women's Track & Field (First Team, 2023; First Team 2021); CJ Moody '20, Men's Track & Field (Second Team, 2020; Third Team, 2019); and Dan Del Gallo '17, Wrestling (First Team 2017, Second Team 2016).

"Kyle has consistently demonstrated his ability as a student and as an athlete," noted head coach Scott Heath. "Kyle's dedication to excel in both his athletic and academic pursuits is impressive and serves as an outstanding blueprint for the rest of the team.  It is great to see Kyle's achievements honored in back-to-back years, and illustrates his commitment to achieving his full potential as a student-athlete."

Named to the CSC Academic All-District team earlier in the spring, Douin advanced to the Academic All-America ballot.  Members of College Sports Communicators vote for student-athletes across NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA who have excelled academically and athletically.
