MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Keene State College baseball team’s season came to a close Saturday with 4-1 loss to The College of New Jersey on the second day of competition in the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The Owls posted an overall record of 25-17 while winning the Little East Conference regular season and tournament championships.
Keene State opened the scoring in the top of the second as Otis Follet drove in Jonathan Chatfield with a single to left. That lead didn’t last long as Ryan Goodall scored on an error in the bottom of the frame to knot the score at 1-1.
The Lions (27-18-1) took the lead for good on Goodall’s solo home run in the bottom of the fourth before Justin Marcario’s two-run blast in the sixth extended the TCNJ lead to 4-1.
The Owls had a number of quality scoring chances but were unable to take advantage. They left the bases loaded in the second innings, stranded a runner in scoring position in the fourth and fifth, and left a pair of runners on base in the ninth.
Jackson Malouf improved to 8-2 on the hill for the Lions with a complete-game effort, scattering nine hits and recording four strikeouts. Goodall finished the game 3-for-4 with a double, home run and three runs scored. Marcario and Tyler Provost were both 1-for-3 in the game.
Jake Jachym took the loss for Keene State after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts over six innings. Liam Conley yielded one walk with two strikeouts over the final two innings.
