PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its annual men’s outdoor track & field awards Wednesday, following a vote to determine the major award recipients by the LEC’s head coaches. All-conference teams were determined based on performance at the 2025 LEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were hosted at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Sunday.
Track Athlete of the Year: Ethan Shain, Southern Maine
- Won the 100 dash in 10.48 seconds before winning the 200 in 21.41 seconds at the 2025 LEC Outdoor Championships.
- Set a new LEC Championship record in the 100 dash.
- His 100 time from the LEC Championships ranks 17th in NCAA Division III, while his 200 time ranks 34th in DIII.
- Ranked No. 1 in New England in the 100, and is No. 2 in New England in the 200.
Field Athlete of the Year: Ancil Alexander, UMass Dartmouth
- Won a pair of events at his first-ever LEC Outdoor Championships, claiming the title in the discus (52.94) and shot put (16.43m).
- Set the LEC Championship record in the discus.
- His discus mark from the LEC Championships ranks fourth in NCAA Division III, while his shot put mark from the meet ranks 14th in DIII.
- Ranked No. in New England in the discus and shot put following the conference meet.
Rookie Track Athlete of the Year: Zane Gordon, UMass Dartmouth
- LEC champion in the 400 dash (49.51) and fourth-place finisher in the 200 dash (22.19) at his first-ever LEC Outdoor Championships.
- Was a member of the 2025 LEC champion 4x100 relay (42.11), and the third-place 4x400 relay (3:23.80).
- His 200 time from the LEC Championships ranks 36th in New England, while the Corsairs 4x100 and 4x400 times rank 11th and 18th in New England, respectively.
- His 400 time (49.28) from the Tufts Sunshine Classic ranks him 23rd in New England.
Rookie Field Athlete of the Year: Sean Patrone, UMass Dartmouth
- Won the high jump after clearing 2.02 meters at his first-ever LEC Outdoor Championships.
- His mark from the LEC Championships in the high jump is tied for 26th in NCAA Division III.
- Ranked fourth in New England in the high jump.
Coaching Staff of the Year: UMass Dartmouth
- Head Coach: Mike Salem
- Assistant Coaches: Ryan O’Connell, Ed Arcaro, Connor Foley, Kyle Wilson
- Guided the Corsairs to their third LEC outdoor team title in four years, marking the fifth team title win in program history.
