PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Western Connecticut State University’s Ryan Vallie added to his list of accolades from the Wolves’ opening weekend doubleheader sweep of Yeshiva University, earning a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week and being named Hitter of the Week Honorable Mention by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
The sophomore second baseman finished 8-for-8 at the plate against the Maccabees. The reigning Little East Conference Player of the Week was 5-for-5 in game one and 3-for-3 in game two. The East Haven, Conn. native doubled, tripled, scored four times and drove home five in the first game before driving home a pair while scoring three times in the second contest, finishing with seven runs and seven RBIs in the two contests.
WestConn is scheduled to return to action when it heads to Myrtle Beach, opening its eight-game southern swing at The Ripken Experience against Geneva College Monday at noon before taking on SUNY Old Westbury at 3:30 p.m.
