PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of Massachusetts Boston men’s soccer team will conclude 2025 as the 23th-ranked team in the nation, according to the final poll of the year released by the United Soccer Coaches Tuesday. The Beacons posted an overall record of 13-4-4 on their way to winning the 2025 Little East Conference (LEC) tournament title and advancing to the Second Round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
UMass Boston won the LEC tournament as the No. 2 seed, posted a 4-1 win over Rhode Island College in the semifinals before posted a 2-1 victory at top-seeded Western Connecticut State University. It was the Beacons second title win in four seasons, and their fifth in program history. UMass Boston junior John Arruda was named the 2025 LEC Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
UMass Boston opened the national championship with a convincing 4-1 rout of Roger Williams University, with four different players finding the back of the net. The Beacons’ season ended with a 3-2 loss in the regional final to Bowdoin College, which is ranked fifth in the final USC ranking.
In addition to the postseason success, the 2025 campaign saw UMass Boston head coach Jake Beverlin become the program’s all-time wins leader, a feat accomplished with a 3-0 triumph over LEC-rival Eastern Connecticut State University on October 18. He has now guided UMass Boston to a record of 148-59-32 (.686) and each of their five LEC title wins since 2013.
