UMass Boston Men’s Soccer To Square Off with Roger Williams in NCAA Championship Opener

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Massachusetts Boston men’s soccer team will take on Roger Williams University in the opening round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, it was announced by the national office Monday morning. The match will take place Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Bowdoin College.
 
The Beacons return to the NCAA tournament after edging top-seeded Western Connecticut State University in Saturday’s LEC championship final, 2-1 after cruising to a 4-1 win over sixth-seeded Rhode Island College in the semifinals. UMass Boston is 12-3-4 for the season heading into the national championship.
 
The Hawks are 13-1-6 on the season after claiming the Conference of New England regular season and tournament titles. They advanced past Western New England University on PKs in the semifinals before taking home the CNE title on penalties against Suffolk University.
 
The other side of the regional bracket will see regional host and 10th-ranked Bowdoin (10-3-3) take on Lyon College (10-6-3). The Polar Bears earned an at-large berth after falling to Middlebury in the NESCAC quarterfinals by a score of 2-1, while the Scots won the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) title with victories over Eureka College (3-1), Webster University (3-0) and Greenville University (1-0).
