WestConn Men’s Lacrosse to Open 2023 NCAA DIII Tournament at New England College

INDIANAPOLIS - The Western Connecticut State University men’s lacrosse team will begin its 2023 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament run with a First Round game at New England College May 10 at 4 p.m., it was announced by the national office Sunday night.
 
The Wolves qualified for the NCAA tournament for the second time in program history after winning the 2023 Little East Conference Championship Tournament Saturday with a 14-9 triumph over UMass Boston. WestConn improved to 15-4 after winning its second-ever LEC tournament title, its first since 2008.
 
New England College enters the NCAA tournament after winning the Colonials States Athletic Conference-New England Collegiate Conference Alliance Championship with a 19-11 decision over Rosemont College. The Pilgrims are familiar with the LEC, having been routed by UMass Boston (29-7) and Plymouth State (18-7) this season, and dropping an 8-7 decision to Castleton.
 
The winner of Wednesday’s contest will travel to two-time defending national champion Rochester Institute of Technology Saturday at noon. The third-ranked Tigers are 18-1 after claiming the Liberty League title with an 18-9 win over the 17th-ranked Union (N.Y.) College Dutchmen.
