LEC Announces 2023 Men's Tennis Postseason Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I.  - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its 2023 men’s tennis major award winners and all-conference teams Wednesday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches. UMass Boston’s Patrick Ramos was named the 2023 LEC Men’s Tennis Player of the Year, while Bridgewater State freshman Adam Beatrice was named 2023 LEC Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Year.
 
Ramos earned the LEC’s top honor after going undefeated at No. 1 singles in conference play this season, in addition to going 5-1 in conference play at No. 1 doubles. The junior went 7-1 over in singles play and was 7-2 overall in doubles action, all at the top-flight positions. He is the second-ever Beacon to be named the LEC Player of the Year, the first being Nandish Shah in 2019.
 
Beatrice was voted the LEC Rookie of the Year after posting a 6-0 record in singles play, at the third-flight, and going 3-3 in doubles play in conference matches. The freshman was 8-4 overall in singles play and 7-7 overall in doubles action. He is the second Bear to be named LEC Rookie of the Year, the first being Matt Mailhot in 2010.
 
Rhode Island College head coach Adam Spring was voted the 2023 LEC Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year for the second time in his career after guiding the Anchormen to a second place finish in the conference standings and a runner-up finish in the LEC tournament. RIC advanced to the conference final for the first time in program history.
