Player of the Week
Victoria Heaphy (East Haven, Conn.) - Sophomore - Designated Player - Eastern Connecticut
Heaphy was named the LEC Player of the Week after batting .750 (6-for-8) and slugging 1.625 with four doubles, one home run, three RBI and three runs scored in the Warriors’ conference sweep of Western Connecticut Friday, which was their only action of the week. She was 3-for-5 with two RBI-doubles and a pair of runs scored in a 12-4 game-one victory before going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a solo home run in the fourth that provided the game-winning run in a 5-2 game-two triumph.
Pitcher of the Week
Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) - Sophomore - Rhode Island College
Kidd was named the LEC Pitcher of the Week after going 1-1 with a save in her three appearances in the circle last week, posting a 0.98 ERA while piling up 17 strikeouts over 14.1 innings of work. She fanned 12 batters while spinning a five-hit shutout in the Anchorwomen’s 6-0 game-one win at Bridgewater State before allowing just one hit over the final 1.1 innings to earn the save in a 6-3 game-two victory over the Bears. She was the hard-luck loser in a 2-1 setback at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, allowing four hits and two runs, while striking out five, in six innings of work.
Rookie of the Week
Alexis Resto (Shelton, Conn.) - Freshman - Third Base - Western Connecticut
Resto was named the LEC Rookie of the Week after batting .750 (9-for-12) while totaling two doubles, eight RBI and three runs scored in a 2-2 week for the Wolves. She was a combined 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored as WestConn swept a non-conference doubleheader from SUNY Purchase by scores of 11-0 and 9-0 to start the week. Resto then went 5-for-7 with two doubles (both in game-one) and four RBI in a pair of setback’s to Eastern Connecticut in league play.
