Simard Opens 2023 LEC Swimming & Diving Championships by Claiming 3-Meter Diving Title

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Bridgewater State University’s Cailey Simard opened the competition at the 2023 Little East Conference (LEC) Swimming & Diving Championships with a dominant victory on the 3-meter diving board, winning the event with a of 433.55 points at Wellesley College. That score also surpassed the NCAA Division III 11-dive qualifying standard of 410 points. Her prelim score of 440.40 points established a new LEC championship record. 
 
Westfield State University’s Kara Banagan was the runner-up with 358.15 points, which also eclipsed her previous conference record of 334.35 points set just last year. Keene State College’s Natalie Donahue placed third this afternoon with 266.50 points.
 
The LEC Championships will shift to the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Massachusetts for the remainder of the weekend. Friday’s preliminary round will get underway at 10 a.m., which the finals scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
