PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Eastern Connecticut State University baseball team climbed the ladder in both national polls this week, reaching No. 2 in the D3baseball.com Poll and No. 8 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division III Poll. UMass Boston continues to receive votes in both polls.
The Warriors record stands at 16-2 following yesterday’s 10-inning 10-5 win at Trinity (Conn.). Last week, Eastern posted a 13-1 non-conference win over Wheaton (Mass.) before sweeping a Little East Conference (LEC) doubleheader against Plymouth State by scores of 11-5 and 14-1.
UMass Boston improved 14-4 after defeating Endicott 5-3 Tuesday. Last week saw the Beacons drop non-conference decisions at Roger Williams (9-7) and Western New England (17-11) before sweeping a league twin bill against Castleton, taking the opener 7-4 and the nightcap 12-2.
The Warriors are remaining schedule this week includes a non-conference game at Johnson & Wales Thursday before taking on UMass Dartmouth in a LEC doubleheader Saturday. UMass Boston is next scheduled to host Roger Williams Thursday and a non-conference twin bill against Suffolk Saturday.
