LEC Announces 2021 Baseball Major Award Recipients and All-Conference Teams

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its 2021 Baseball All-LEC selections and major award recipients Tuesday, following a vote of the league's head coaches. Eastern Connecticut State University had a trio of major award winners in Player of the Year Luke Broadhurst, Pitcher of the Year Josh Vincent and Coach of the Year Brian Hamm. University of Southern Maine freshman Cam Seymour was named the LEC Rookie of the Year.
 
Broadhurst leads the Warriors and is among the LEC leaders in most offensive categories through his first 38 games of the season, all of them starts. The senior ranks No. 1 in the Conference in batting average (.421), slugging (.812), on-base percentage (.538), hits (56), triples (4) and runs scored (47). His totals for homers (second, 11), RBI (third, 43), walks (fourth, 27) and doubles (fifth, 11) all rank in the top-five in the league. Broadhurst is the sixth Eastern Connecticut player to be named the LEC Player of the Year.
 
Vincent has started in eight of his nine appearances on the hill so far this season, posting a 6-1 record with a 1.65 ERA over his 54.2 innings of work, allowing just 10 earned runs. The senior has totaled 73 strikeouts to just 20 walks, and has been part of five shutout pitching performances Warriors. The senior ranks second in the LEC in wins, ERA and strikeouts, is fourth in innings pitched, and is fifth in opponent batting average (.184) this season. He is the sixth Eastern hurler to be named LEC Pitcher of the Year.
 
Seymour is batting .331 with 54 hits, 17 doubles, 12 homers, 52 RBI and 35 runs scored through the first 40 games (all starts) of his collegiate career. He leads the LEC in RBI, doubles and home runs; the freshman's 12th long ball of the season won the 2021 LEC title for USM in walk-off fashion. Seymour is the 10th Husky to be named LEC Rookie of the Year.
 
Hamm was named LEC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career after guiding Eastern Connecticut to the 2021 LEC regular season title and a berth in the LEC tournament final. The Warriors have posted an overall record of 32-6 so far this season while earning a top-15 national rankling and receiving one of just six at-large berths in the 2021 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, where they will be the No. 1 Seed in the Auburn, New York Regional. Hamm is the third Eastern Connecticut manager to be named LEC Coach of the Year.
