PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Commissioner Cora H. Brumley has announced the appointment of Adam Sopris as Assistant Commissioner for the Little East Conference.
Sopris will serve as the primary communications representative for the Little East Conference, overseeing all strategic efforts in webcast and website development, new media, as well as sports information. He will be the main media contact of the league and have administrative responsibilities in LEC Championships and Awards effective April 8th.
“Mr. Sopris has developed an exceptionally comprehensive administrative skill set due to experience in both intercollegiate athletics and the private sector. His expertise in broadcast, digital marketing and media relations will leverage the LEC’s tradition of strategic communication innovation to its full potential,” said Commissioner Brumley.
“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Little East Conference and work with Commissioner Brumley and the member institutions to achieve our future goals and continue to grow the Conference in a positive direction,” said Sopris.
Sopris has served Siena College Athletics in game operations and media relations for the past three years. As the Men’s Basketball game director at the Times Union Center, he was responsible for the integration of game day scripts, promotional events and broadcast production crews to optimize the in-person and remote fan experience for all home contests. Sopris previously was responsible for athletic department video operations, including webcasting, video highlights and serving as the primary communications representative for field hockey, golf, softball, swimming & diving and water polo.
As a two-year graduate assistant at the University of San Francisco, Sopris gained tangible intercollegiate administration experience in an array of departments including corporate sponsorships; media relations, ticketing and promotions. He supervised several interns with promotional event responsibilities. Sopris also completed a game operations internship with the NBA’s Golden State Warriors while earning his M.A. in Sport Management.
Sopris will be stepping down as the C.H. Evans Brewing Co. (Albany, NY) director of marketing & communications, where he created and implemented profitable marketing initiatives, managed all social media platforms, successfully wrote grants for a statewide Brewer Outreach Initiative and guided revenue growth in other business units such as private parties, outside accounts and merchandising since 2013. He also previously worked at Gramercy Communications, a strategic communications agency, as a marketing communications coordinator.
A 2008 graduate of Siena College, Sopris earned a B.S. in Marketing/Management.
