Commissioner Cora H. Brumley has announced the appointment of Taylor Alward as Assistant Commissioner of the Little East Conference, effective August 21, 2017.
Alward will serve as the primary communications representative and media contact for the Little East Conference. He will oversee league-wide branding, strategic communication and sports information. He will also have administrative responsibilities in championships and the LEC’s awards program.
“Mr. Alward’s experience as a student-athlete, on campus and conference office communications professional makes him uniquely qualified to serve as the LEC’s Assistant Commissioner,” said Commissioner Brumley. “His expertise in broadcast and video production will undoubtedly elevate the league’s tradition of communication innovation.”

Alward most recently served the American Athletic Conference as the primary contact for baseball, cross country, indoor/outdoor track and field and women’s volleyball and as the secondary contact for men’s basketball. He promoted the league’s teams, with a particular emphasis on new media content. He also produced weekly notes packages and assisted with championships.
Alward previously served Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis as the primary contact for softball and women’s volleyball while earning his Sports Administration master’s degree from Ball State University. He produced website content, promotional print design projects and provided in-game statistical services.
Alward gained additional media and administrative experience as an NCAA College World Series media coordinator, Indiana Golf Association tournament director/rules official, and with the Orem Owlz Baseball (Pioneer League Affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim), where he produced website content and served in various operational roles including public address, play-by-play and color commentator.
After securing internships at Channel 4 (Salt Lake City ABC affiliate) and Channel 58 (Milwaukee CBS affiliate), Alward became the Channel 8 (Idaho Falls ABC affiliate) weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter. He shot, edited and broadcasted feature stories and highlights while covering Idaho State Athletics and 18 local high schools.
Alward graduated with a B.S. in Communications (Journalism emphasis) from Carroll University while participating as an NCAA Division III men’s golf student-athlete.
