As the Little East Conference (LEC) Commissioner, Cora H.L. Brumley is responsible for the LEC’s strategic leadership and governance; fiscal, program and human resource management; advocacy and outreach; and revenue generation in support of its nine core and six affiliate member public New England institutions. She has served the LEC and its member institutions since November 2013 (release).

During her tenure, Brumley has led and facilitated the league’s various initiatives, including:

Brumley credits her rapid ascent to leadership roles (Athletic Director and Commissioner within 10 years of becoming an intercollegiate athletics professional) to her participation in the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship program, and her University of Wisconsin-Whitewater education and mentors. She is appreciative of the good fortune that each organization she has served has produced NCAA Division III Champion teams during her tenure:

  • LEC member UMass Boston –Women’s Indoor Track & Field (2018) and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field (2018)
  • Oswego State – Men’s Ice Hockey (2007)
  • UW-Whitewater –Women’s Volleyball (2002 and 2005); Baseball (2005)

An active ally in support of historically underrepresented populations, Brumley has successfully written six NCAA diversity grants in excess of $500,000, in support of new positions at Oswego State, the SUNYAC and UW-Whitewater. She currently serves as co-chair of the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) Awards Committee, previously on the MOAA Board of Directors and the NCAA Division III Strategic Matching Grant and Ethnic Minority & Women's Internship Grant allocation committees, in addition to contributing to many national and campus service organizations.

Prior to joining the LEC, Brumley served as Athletic Director at Oswego State. She was responsible for the leadership of a 24-sport Division III athletics program with a $3.5 million operating budget.  Brumley initially joined Oswego State as the Assistant Athletic Director and served as the institutional Senior Woman Administrator. Brumley began her intercollegiate athletics administration career at UW-Whitewater, departing as an Assistant Athletic Director.

Raised in Madison, Wisconsin, Brumley received an MBA in marketing and a BBA in international economics from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, earning induction into several prestigious honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa as a junior (top 5% of her class).
