Women’s Basketball Athletes of the Week: November 25, 2019


Player of the Week

Shaelyn Carreiro (UMass Dartmouth) - Sophomore - Forward - Fall River, Mass.
Carreiro averaged 19 points and eight rebounds per game while shooting 58 percent (14-24) from the field to power UMass Dartmouth to a 2-0 week that improved the Corsairs' record to 5-1 this season. She posted a double-double with season-highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds at in a 66-62 non-conference win at Bridgewater State before scoring 18 points on 7-for-9 from the field while grabbing five boards in a 74-72 LEC victory at Southern Maine.

Rookie of the Week

Jalen Cook (Plymouth State) - Freshman - Guard - Monkton, Vt.
Cook averaged 14.5 points and eight rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Plymouth State, which is now 3-2 this season. She scored 12 points and added nine rebounds as the Panthers topped Rivier, 62-50, on Tuesday, and followed with a career-best 17 points to go with seven rebounds and two steals in PSU's 72-61 setback at Suffolk on Saturday.
