Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week for September 16, 2019

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Nilton de Andrade (UMass Boston) – Junior - Forward/Midfield - Fogo, Cape Verde
de Andrade recorded 10 points (three goals, four assists) to lead the Beacons to a pair of non-conference victories last week. The junior put together a career showing in Tuesday's 7-1 win over Emerson College, recording a hat trick and adding a career-high three assists for a career-high nine points. On Saturday, de Andrade set up the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Salve Regina University.

Junior Monteiro (UMass Dartmouth) – Senior - Midfield - New Bedford, Mass.
Monteiro netted three goals with three assists for nine points in a 3-0-0 week for the Corsairs, including pair of tallies in 2-1 triumph over Framingham State. The senior added marker and pair of helpers in 4-0 win over Massachusetts Maritime, and was setup the game-winner in 1-0 victory at Salve Regina. UMass Dartmouth (3-1-0) as team surpassed its entire win total of last season (two) over five day period.

Defensive Player of the Week

Emmanuel Agyemang (Eastern Connecticut) – Junior - Defense - East Hartford, Conn.
Agyemang started both games in a 2-0-0 week for the Warriors, which included road victories over Trinity (Conn.) College (2-0) and St. Joseph's (L.I.) College (4-1). Eastern allowed just 14 total shot attempts last week, only six of what were on goal.  Agyemang helped the defense open the season with a run of 408:35 scoreless minutes before St. Joseph's broke through in the 49th minute Saturday.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Jake Castro (UMass Dartmouth) - Sophomore - Swansea, Mass.
Castro Recorded was in goal for all 270 minutes of the Corsairs' three victories last week, posting 0.33 GAA and .967 save percentage as he stopped 28 of the 29 shots on goal her faced. The sophomore notched a career-high 13 saves in 1-0 triumph at Salve Regina to go with 10 stops in 2-1 win over Framingham State. He added five saves in a 4-0 clean sheet victory over Massachusetts Maritime.

Rookie of the Week

Andres Soto-Burgos (Castleton) – Freshman - Goalkeeper - Bronx, N.Y.
Soto-Burgos made the first two starts of his collegiate career in goal for Castleton last week, and promptly went 2-0-0 while posting a 1.50 goals against average as he stopped seven of the 10 shots on goal he faced. The freshman made two saves in Wednesday's in a 3-1 win over SUNY Canton before totaling five saves in a 3-2 win over Springfield.
