Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week for September 9, 2019

Offensive Player of the Week /Rookie of the Week 

Franz Muhaj (Western Connecticut ) – Freshman - Forward - Bridgeport, Conn.
Muhaj scored four goals, including two game-winners, in a 3-0-0 week for the Colonials (3-1-0). He netted what proved to be the game-winner in a 4-1 victory at St. Joseph's (Long Island) before finding the back of the net twice, including the game-winner, in a 4-0 triumph at Elms. He capped the week with a goal in a 4-2 win at MCLA.

Defensive Player of the Week

Brendan D'Arcy (Eastern Connecticut) - Junior - Defense/Midfield - West Hartford, Conn.
D'Arcy played all 180 minutes in two non-conference shutout wins for the Warriors as they blanked WPI (1-0) and Lasell (3-0). A left back, D'Arcy helped limit them to an average of 11 shots, with an average of 4.5 reaching goal. D'Arcy also was credited with an assist in the victory over Lasell on the Warriors' second goal of the match.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Daniel Szabo (Western Connecticut) - Junior - Trumbull, Conn.
Szabo allowed one goal over 236 minutes and had one shutout in a 3-0-0 week for the Colonials. He had three saves in a 4-1 win over St. Joseph's (Long Island) and stopped both shots on goal he faced to post clean sheet in a 4-0 victory at Elms. He capped the week with 56 scoreless minutes to get the decision in a 4-2 win at MCLA.
