Field Hockey Athletes of the Week for September 9, 2019

Offensive Player of the Week

Rachel Hopkins (Worcester State) - (Senior - Midfield/Forward - Chelmsford, Mass.
Hopkins scored goals in both of Worcester State's victories last week as the Lancers stayed perfect at 4-0. Hopkins opened the week with a hat trick and an assist in a 4-1 win over Wellesley on Thursday, and added another goal in a 5-0 win over Mount Holyoke on Saturday. Hopkins scored the game-winning goal in both matches.

Defensive Player of the Week

Cassidy Windler (Worcester State) – Senior - Defense - Holden, Mass.
Windler led a defensive corps that allowed just one goal in two matches last the week as the Lancers improved to a perfect 4-0 in 2019. Worcester State limited Wellesley to just four shots on-goal in a 4-1 victory, while Mount Holyoke was held to five shots on-cage in a 5-0 win. She also chipped in offensively, recording an assist in both contests.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Riley Goulet (Westfield State) - Sophomore - Goalkeeper - Marion, Mass.
Goulet totaled 10 saves in a pair of shutout wins for the Owls. She posted six saves in a 3-0 win over Simmons before making four stops in a 1-0 win over Rivier. Goulet is now 3-1 for the season with a 3.21 goals against average and .711 save percentage with 27 total stops for the year.

Rookie of the Week

Carly Duff (Worcester State) - Freshman - Midfield - Warren, Mass.
Duff tallied her first two collegiate points on Saturday as the Lancers defeated Mount Holyoke 5-0, recording the primary assist on a pair of goals off penalty corners in the victory. She also helped the defense limit its two opponents to just nine shots on goal for the week.
