Yankee Ford LEC Men’s Ice Hockey Athletes of the Week: February 23, 2026 2/23/2026 12:09:32 PM Player of the Week Gunnar Sibley (Monticello, Minn.) - Junior - Forward - New England College Sibley exploded for five points in a pair of Pilgrim wins over No. 11 Babson and Southern Maine this weekend to close out the regular season. He tallied an assist in NEC's 3-2 win over the nationally ranked Beavers on Friday night before recording a season-high four points against Southern Maine on Saturday. In the 4-2 win, Sibley was involved on all four Pilgrim goals, scoring a short-handed goal in the first before netting his first career hat trick before the end of the second period. He assisted on the game-clinching score late in the third to cap off a four-point performance. Goaltender of the Week Josh Ward (Ottawa, Ont.) - Senior - VTSU Castleton Ward turned aside a career-high 57 shots. It marked the most saves by a Castleton goaltender since the 2022–23 season, as the Spartans battled Norwich to a 1-1 draw before falling in the shootout Friday night to close out the regular season. Rookie of the Week Kim Hilmersson (Uppsala, Sweden) - Freshman - Forward - Plymouth State Hilmersson had a huge weekend to help PSU split a pair of LEC games to secure the No. 3 seed for the LEC tournament, posting three goals and three assists for six points. He came up huge on Friday night, playing a part in five of the Panthers’ six goals in a 6-2 win over Southern Maine – scoring twice and adding three assists to finish as a +4. He added a power play tally in a 3-1 setback to No. 11 Babson on Saturday.
