PROVIDENCE, R.I. – UMass Boston senior Zainab Patel has been named the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Bridgewater State University’s Ana Eccles earned Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending Oct. 18, 2026.

Player of the Week: Zainab Patel, UMass Boston

Patel went undefeated at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles against Southern Maine and Rhode Island College, finishing the week with a combined 4-0 record.

The Ahmedabad, India, native opened with a 6-0, 6-0 singles victory against Southern Maine before earning a three-set win over Rhode Island College, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. She also teamed with Tatiana Malone for a pair of doubles victories, defeating Southern Maine 6-0 and Rhode Island College 6-1.

Rookie of the Week: Ana Eccles, Bridgewater State

Eccles won all three of her doubles matches and her lone singles appearance as Bridgewater State posted 7-0 victories over Salem State, Southern Maine and Plymouth State.

The Swampscott, Massachusetts, native partnered with Maeve Snyder for a 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles against Salem State, a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles against Southern Maine and a 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles against Plymouth State. Eccles also defeated Plymouth State’s Leela Bakhshi 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
