PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of Massachusetts Boston women’s tennis team was named the favorite to be crowned Little East Conference (LEC) championship after totaling 62 points and claiming six first-place votes in the 2025 LEC Women’s Tennis Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
The Beacons posted an overall record of 14-3 last season on their way to winning the consecutive LEC regular season and tournament championships. This was the third consecutive season that UMass Boston swept the LEC regular season and tournament title wins.
Rhode Island College was picked to finish second in the LEC this season after totaling 59 points and securing each of the remaining three first-place votes. The Anchorwomen have been runner-up to the Beacons in each of the last three seasons in both the regular season standings and championship tournament.
UMass Dartmouth edged out Bridgewater State University for third in the preseason poll, while the remaining teams projected to qualify of the LEC Championship Tournament are Salem State University and Plymouth State University.
